The Södermalm District Council has evaluated a proposal for a new functional program for preschool facilities in Stockholm. The goal is for all preschools in the city to have the same high quality and functionality, both indoors and outdoors, to better meet children's needs and create a good working environment for staff. The program will also lead to more efficient and cost-saving planning for the construction and adaptation of preschools, and allow for preschool facilities to be converted to other purposes when needed.

Stockholm is introducing a new digital map for local public order regulations, clarifying rules on alcohol bans, dog walking areas, and bathing spots. Additionally, a proposal suggests that dog owners will be required to clean up after their dogs throughout the entire city, not just the inner city. The Södermalm district committee also proposes removing four locations, including Medborgarplatsen and Björns trädgård, from areas with extended permit requirements for temporary sales, as a new law on nitrous oxide already governs this.

Stockholm City has developed an action plan to strengthen children's rights and influence until 2030, based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The aim is to counteract discrimination and promote equal living conditions for all children in the city. The action plan focuses on knowledge and information, welfare and services, and participation and influence. The Södermalm district administration views the plan positively but suggests it become more concrete, clearer in its structure, and that the initiatives be more directly linked to the goals.

The City Planning Administration proposes a detailed development plan for the property Västergötland 21 in Södermalm, which will enable an extension in the courtyard, new entrances facing Repslagargatan, and new windows and dormers. The aim is to develop the property for office and retail purposes while preserving its cultural-historical values and enhancing safety on Repslagargatan. The Södermalm District Administration is positive about the proposal but emphasizes the importance of reviewing the bicycle parking situation on Repslagargatan when new entrances are opened.

The Sweden Democrats in Södermalm have raised six questions regarding how the district administration handles employees in schools and care services who exhibit inappropriate or criminal behavior. They contend that the municipality often buys out such staff instead of prosecuting them, which could result in unsuitable individuals being rehired. The administration states that buyouts are a last resort, that crimes are always reported to the police, and that they are implementing competence-based recruitment and reference checks to prevent re-employment, while also providing managers with support and training for handling difficult personnel matters.

The Moderate Party has inquired with the Södermalm District Administration about Christmas lights in Hammarby Sjöstad, citing residents' feelings of darkness in winter and their desire for more lights to enhance well-being and safety. The administration states that the Traffic Office is responsible for Christmas lighting and that Södermalm already has extensive decorations, making new locations currently unfeasible. However, they are open to relaying local requests and collaborating with property owners on safety initiatives that include lighting.

The Södermalm district council has decided that certain named officials within Social Emergency Services may request police assistance. This applies to cases concerning compulsory care for substance abusers (LVM), compulsory care for young people (LVU), and the placement of children in safe housing. This decision is to enable the police to provide assistance when interventions under these laws need to be carried out, for example, if someone opposes a decision for a child's safe housing.

The Södermalm District Council has decided to grant certain appointed members expanded authority to make swift decisions in urgent child and youth welfare matters. This allows for rapid decisions on issues such as immediate protective custody, placement in emergency shelters or foster homes, and contact limitations, without needing to wait for a full council decision. This change, a revision of previous rules due to amendments in the Social Services Act, is intended to ensure timely decisions when the well-being of children and young people is at risk.

The Södermalm District Council proposes to amend its delegation of authority for 2026. This means that certain decisions previously made by an official will now be made by the council's social delegation instead. This is partly a consequence of the new Social Services Act, which stipulates that decisions regarding placement in foster homes may only be delegated to the council's social delegation.

The Södermalm District Council will approve a housing plan for individuals with disabilities in the Inner City region (Kungsholmen, North Inner City, and Södermalm) for the years 2026-2036. There is a growing need for specialized housing for these groups, particularly group homes with standard accessibility features. Projections indicate that the number of people needing such housing in the Inner City could increase by 25 percent by 2035, from 547 to 686 individuals, necessitating ongoing planning and collaboration to meet these demands.

The Södermalm District Committee has investigated the possibility of taking over park management in-house instead of hiring external contractors like PEAB. The investigation proposes that the committee proceed with a "medi-alternative," which is assessed to provide the best quality and readiness, despite an estimated cost increase of SEK 22.5 million compared to the current arrangement. For this to become a reality, however, the Municipal Council must grant additional investment funds for machinery and vehicles, among other things.

The Södermalm District Council has approved the monthly forecast for February 2026. The forecast shows a surplus of 65 million SEK, primarily within elderly care. While sickness absence has slightly decreased, the need for social assistance and places in care homes is expected to rise during the year.

The Södermalm District Council will distribute 400,000 SEK in grants for environmental and climate work in 2026. Of eleven applications requesting a total of nearly 12.5 million SEK, the administration proposes granting funds to five organizations. These include Föreningen Timmermansgården, Hållbara Reimersholme, Mäster Olofsgården, Odla ihop, and Sjöstadsföreningen Hammarby Sjöstad, for activities such as bicycle repairs, litter picking, reuse events, gardening projects, and energy workshops.

The Södermalm District Council has decided to distribute a total of 935,000 SEK in association grants for summer activities in 2026. These funds will be allocated to nine associations providing activities for children and young people across the entire district, as well as for all ages in and around Tantolunden. Among the approved associations are Södergården, Fryshuset, and Odla ihop, while Hammarby IF Boxning was denied a grant as they have previously received funding for similar equipment.

The Södermalm District Committee proposes closing Tantolunden preschool from July 6, 2026, due to declining child numbers on Södermalm, resulting in many vacant preschool spots and high premises costs. The 19 affected children will be offered new placements at Eriksdalsvillan or Lyckan preschools, with the possibility for educators to transfer to ensure a smooth transition.

A resident on Södermalm proposed an outdoor gym in the Persikan block, along with more mailboxes, a Systembolaget (state-run liquor store), and a stop for the Returrundan (recycling service). The district administration is positive about the outdoor gym idea but believes it won't fit in Tvätt-Malins park. Instead, an outdoor gym is proposed for Tengdahlsparken, which will be renovated. The question of Returrundan is being forwarded to Stockholm Water and Waste AB, while the requests for a Systembolaget and mailboxes fall outside the city's responsibility.

A resident proposed building a mini-ramp for skateboarding near Sofiaskolan in Södermalm, citing a lack of easily accessible skateparks for young children and beginners in the area. The district administration is positive about more activities but wishes to wait until the planned renovation of Tengdahlsparken is completed, after which they are open to reconsidering the proposal.

The Södermalm district council has received a citizen proposal to build a larger, weather-protected dance floor in Eriksdalslunden, as the current one is worn and popular. The administration proposes building a new, larger dance floor with a roof on the gravel area south of Hellas Tennis Club, instead of renovating the existing one. They will develop a proposal for the new dance floor in 2026, including a cost estimate, and explore a rental agreement with Föreningen Sprallen.

A resident proposed improving Sankt Paulsparken by adding an ice rink with festive lighting in the existing water play area, installing a mosaic bottom, and planting more greenery for the autumn and winter seasons. The Södermalm district administration thanked the resident for the suggestion and plans to investigate the possibility of an ice rink and planting trees and evergreen shrubs in 2026, though mosaic is not a priority at this time.

A citizen proposal was submitted to the Södermalm district committee requesting funding for four positions – two youth pedagogues, one elder pedagogue, and one operations manager – for a planned community center in Hammarby Sjöstad between 2026 and 2028. The proposal aims to reduce exclusion and loneliness among young people and seniors through activities and meeting places. The district administration thanks the proposer but rejects the proposal as it stands; they are already planning to open a municipal senior center in Hammarby Sjöstad in 2026 and assess that current resources for youth are sufficient, suggesting existing grants for associations or a "ideally driven public partnership" (IOP) for funding instead.
