Improving Strömmen River: Cleaner Water and Wildlife
The Stockholm City Council will decide on a local action program for Strömmen river. The program aims to improve water quality and the habitat for animals and plants in Strömmen, which currently has poor ecological and chemical status due to pollution from traffic, wastewater, and old port areas, among other sources. Measures include purifying stormwater, managing contaminated bottom sediments, and improving the physical habitat. The costs are estimated to be hundreds of millions of kronor and will be financed in various ways, including through water and wastewater fees and the city's budget.
