Safer, bigger water pipes for Skarpnäck
Stockholm Vatten AB plans to replace a 470-meter main water pipe in Skarpnäck, on Gamla Tyresövägen, due to its sensitive concrete type which poses an explosion-like cracking risk. The new steel pipe will be thicker (from 600 mm to 800 mm) to secure water supply for parts of Stockholm, Nacka, Värmdö, and Tyresö, and to reduce flood risks, including in allotment garden areas. The project is estimated to cost 52 million SEK and also mandates the use of electric work vehicles to lower emissions and noise.
