Safer Playgrounds: Less Plastic, Healthier Environment

The City of Stockholm has updated its guidelines for artificial turf, rubber granulate, and cast-in-place rubber on surfaces like playgrounds and sports fields. The aim is to reduce the spread of environmentally and health-damaging chemicals and microplastics. The city now recommends avoiding these materials as much as possible in favor of more environmentally friendly alternatives, and imposes stricter requirements on materials that are still used. The Skarpnäck City District Administration welcomes the new requirements and wants all committees and companies to adhere to them rigorously.
