Preschool changes and new childcare hours explained

Kungsholmen City District Administration is planning a major reorganization of preschools to take effect August 1, 2026. This means reducing the number of preschool areas from four to three, consolidating special education work into a dedicated unit, and moving the open preschool to social services. Additionally, Kungsholmen and Södermalm will be responsible for out-of-hours childcare from August 17, 2026, leading to some preschools offering 24/7 care.
