Preschools and Gardening: City Responds to Proposal
Council members Ismail Ali and Claes Nyberg (C) proposed that all Stockholm preschools should have the opportunity to garden as part of their teaching, citing benefits for children's health, motor skills, and understanding of nature and sustainability. They called for a plan to integrate this into operations, even for preschools without their own yards. The City of Stockholm responded that gardening is already part of the curriculum and that initiatives for greener preschool yards and sustainability are ongoing, thus deeming a new city-wide plan unnecessary.
