Addressing Hjorthagen Safety and Community Concerns
Per Rosencrantz (M) questioned Social Affairs Commissioner Alexander Ojanne (S) regarding escalating insecurity in Hjorthagen, following the opening of a 40-unit halfway house for the homeless and those with substance abuse issues. Residents and businesses report drug-affected individuals, needles near playgrounds, thefts, and general unrest, with police warning of a potential open drug scene.
Ojanne responded that threatening situations and crimes are unacceptable and that measures have been implemented to restore calm, including deploying outreach workers and security guards, increasing cleaning, and collaborating closely with the police. Additionally, disruptive residents have been relocated, and Ojanne believes these efforts have reduced reported problems significantly.
